Skiing with friends
After mum's succesful trip last year, dad took Piet and Emma kids skiing this year. Three other families with their friends joined in as well. We drove up on the Friday - the kids missing a day of school - with Phoebe and her dad. Apart from a short stop for coffee and at the
playground in Bredbo, where it was 10 degrees, we drove to Jindabyne to pick up our rental skis and enter our joint accommodation at 4pm. The kids enjoyed watching television programmes, as normally they only get to see videos or movies. The Saturday morning, most kids and one dad had skiing lessons, while the others enjoyed venturing a bit further afield. The snow was fresh, but as the sky was overcast, it was hard to see where you were going. The kids joined us in the
afternoon and had fun. Exhausted, we had a
hot chocolate and drove back home.
The next day was a full day skiing with the kids. It was still snowing, which meant the highest lifts were closed and queues were long lower down the slopes. But the kids did not seem to mind too much. We met all up for lunch, skied a bit more, had another hot chocolate and at four o'clock headed back after wiping the snow off our car. We got stuck for over an hour in a traffic jam down to Jindabyne, probably due to the snow. But in the end, we managed to hand back our skis at six and drive back home without stops - we had two drivers - where we arrived at just before midnight.
Earlier this month, Emma had had her school's band camp. Grannybunts came over for the training band's performance at the end of the two day camp (Monday/Tuesday). All three bands played three pieces. Grannybunts enjoyed the short drive from Canberra.
Juliana
Juliana enjoyed
sticking stickers on paper. She wore her
super hero costume to preschool. She does two days a week (Thursday/Friday) and is described as a shy child. How different from her bossy behaviour at home. One day, she was in the garden with mum, holding a pair of scissors as she likes cutting leaves off the ivy, when mum asked:
For a number of weeks, Juultje has been asking: "How long till we go to oma Bep?" We have tried "in a few months" and "at christmas" and "still a very long time away", but these concepts of time are clearly to difficult for a three year old, as she keeps asking: "How long till we go to oma Bep?"
