[For December: When we were camping in Canberra, we took the kids to the hill above parliament, were they ran about and did horsey rides. Part of the hill is now closed to the public, with democratic symbolism lost in the process.]
The first weekend in the new year, we dropped Emma for a sleepover at Katy and her parents, who were holidaying nearby. Our summer was hot, so the waterbombing fight was appreciated.
The next weekend, we rented a kayak, so dad could take Piet for a tour of the harbour and a few beaches in the morning and Emma in the afternoon. During the swap near lunchtime, Juultje was keen to have a go as well.
Tree Tops
During the week, mum took the kids, Kaya (in Piet's class in year 2), Ruby (at the same daycare centre as Juliana, whom Juliana tends to call on her toy phone) and their mother to Tree Tops. All kids got their
helmet and
harness fitted, followed by safety
instructions. Juliana was thrilled that she could take part, doing the
lower courses herself and getting
assistance on the higher ropes.
Everybody seemed to
enjoy this
day out.
