On the last Saturday in May, friends with twins came over for dinner and dessert at our place (with the odd video in between). Jemma and Jalissa live twenty houses up our road, while Zoe and Harris live in a neighbouring suburb (Fairlight). All were in Piet's two-day-a-week pre-school class last year. The twins are doing the three-day-a-week pre-school this year and we hope Emma, still in a two-day-a week class, will be able to join them in their class before the end of the year, as she has reached the top of the waiting list.
We received Piet's school pictures. The group picture made us realise that there are actually quite a few more boys than girls in his class (despite one boy is missing in the picture). Note the class were still in their summer uniform when the picture was taken.
Swimming lessons
As
Piet has been promoted to the next level, the kids had one of their last swimming lessons
together. This would allow us to move Piet into an after school class. Dad is looking forward to swimming-free Saturdays.
Walk
During the long weekend, we decided against camping - the kids were a bit sniffy - and went to the Blue Mountains instead. We did a 3 hour walk through Centennial Glen, a narrow and steep gorge on the edge of the Blue Mountains west of Blackheath. The first half went well and the kids had no trouble walking
along the paths. However, after our
second stop, Piet got strong ear pains and had to be carried most of the way. Suddenly, Emma 'realised' she had strong ear pains too. And to make matters worse, she was not going to be carried! Nevertheless, she walked most of the way back. Piet felt slightly better once he got into the car and after a dose of paracetamol, he fell asleep in his seat for a relaxed drive home.
