Back in Sydney, we went two weeks to pre-school and creche and then it was school holidays again. The first week was special: mum had to do a course, so grannybunts came over to look after Piet and Emma. We went everywhere (zoo, Ocean world, museum) and we enjoyed it to boot. On Saturday, we drove to Bendoc.

In Bendoc, Piet helped opa to get the tire swing from the garage and put it up. After that, opa helped Piet swing. Grannybunts had found a button with a platypus, which Piet proudly wore.

The Monday was a public holiday. Mum and dad drove to Canberra to have dinner with a friend. The next morning, mum dropped dad on the airport to fly back to Sydney and returned to Bendoc.

Back there, we went for a walk with Pippa, slowly the kids get more used to her. We had fun climbing up the roadside and running across Bendoc river bridge. We cycled back home. Piet on his big bike needed the odd push, while Emma could manage on her own. Note the bikes date back to the time mum and aunty Bell were little. With a bit of welding, they are back in shape.

Swimming
bikes jumping and swimming Although both Piet and Emma had enjoyed swimming lessons in Eltham, they never really got settled in Sydney, until October that was. This month, they (and mum) finally warmed up to the teacher and became enthusiastic about floating, jumping and swimming again. Mum took the kids to the maritime museum, which had a tall ship with a pirate theme. Back home, Piet watched the washing machine go round and round

cake pleased picnic

With the first anniversary of Will's birth coming up, Piet and Emma helped decorate a butterfly cake. They were quite pleased with the result. On Saturday 27th, we went to Collin's beach - a harbour beach in the natural park 10 minutes walk from our house - for a picnic. After our dessert, we released a blue balloon in his memory.
