On Saturday, Alba, Holger and Anna-Carolina came around to see and hold little Emma and play with Piet and his warehouse. In the glorious weather, we could eat outside with the whole family and have tea with cousin Bram and Jeltje and have a picnic in nearby Shoreditch park. While grandma did some final sightseeing in London and the rest of us enjoyed the sun and the food, Piet amused himself with walking around and watching people play with footballs and frisbees. Tired, he was happy to ride back home in his sidecar, which always attracts quite some attention from other people on the street; sister Emma gets the main part of the pram nowadays. On Bank Holiday Monday, we went over Pen, Andrew and Kate in Lewisham for lunch and played in their garden.
During the week, Piet enjoyed tossing carrot pieces into pans and feeding pappa his salad. And Emma? Well, she still enjoyed lying in her playpen (in between feeds).
The next weekend, Oscar came over to play with his car and Piet and the beads run. We had lunch with his parents and Gerald, who had come over from Zurich to see the FA cup final with daddy. Sadly, Everton lost. Emma was blissfully unaware.
On Sunday, grandma said goodbye to Emma and Piet, looking somewhat tired after sharing a bedroom with Piet for seven weeks. We dropped her off at Heathrow and stopped over at the Hoekemas on our way back. Tracy tested how it felt to cuddle a newborn, while Piet had great fun with Alex and the other triplets in a tent. And then the play moved to the sandpit, the sandpit, the sandpit and again the sandpit and the garden (on the way to the sandpit).
